SGT Jon M. Schoolcraft was born a son of Jon Michael Schoolcraft and Cynthia Ann “Cindy” Swiger Schoolcraft. On Nov. 17, 2007, he married Amber Leigh Van Weort. Jon graduated from Wapakoneta High School in 2001. He had attended Apollo Joint Vocational School in 2000 and 2001. He was in the Army and had been stationed in Germany and Hawaii and this was his second tour of duty in Iraq. He was a devoted, courageous and loving husband, son, brother, uncle, grandson and friend. His father and stepmother, Dawn Schoolcraft, survive. His mother and stepfather, Randy Hooker, survive. Jon died at age 26 in Taji, Iraq of wounds sustained when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device.
