SSG Douglas Martin

Doug was an amazing and loving son, brother, father and friend. Doug was very excited to enter into his service with the 82nd Airborne. Doug completed basic training and jump school at Fort Benning, GA, and was assigned to Fort Bragg, NC. While at Fort Bragg, Doug was blessed with his son Jaxson. Soon after Jaxson’s birth, Doug was deployed to Afghanistan and the year after his return, his second son Wyatt was born. Doug was a devoted Dad and spent his time focused on his two sons. As an enlisted service member, Doug wanted to make a difference and did not shy away from a challenge, applying and being accepted to multiple leadership training and schools.

Growing up, Doug was a hockey fan, his favorite team was the Colorado Avalanche and Patrick Roy was his hero. Doug wanted to be a goalie and worked hard at his dream and while playing in high school, he became a three time All Star and lead his team to the Blue Jackets Cup and then continued his talent in college as a Division 1 Goalie. Our family will always assure Jaxson and Wyatt remember their Dad and the things he accomplished and of the Great Man he was to all of us who knew and loved him.
