SPC Donald Scott Morrison

Scott, as he was known to family and friends, graduated from Sycamore High School in 2005. He worked at the Blue Ash Rec center as a fitness coordinator prior to enlisting. Scott made the decision to enlist after his friend and baseball teammate, Pvt. Branden Haunert, died in combat in Tikrit, Iraq on May 18, 2008. He enlisted in the Army in October of 2008 as a Combat Engineer. After AIT training in Fort Leonard Wood, he was assigned to the 584th Augmentation Company, 20th Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade, Fort Hood. Scott was deployed in January of 2010 to Forward Operating Base Frontenac, Afghanistan. On September 26, 2010, while out on a mission, insurgents attacked his military vehicle with an IED in which the vehicle sustained heavy damage. Scott and SGT Mark Simpson, who were riding the in rear of the vehicle, succumbed to their injuries.
