CW2 Brian D. Hazelgrove

Chief Warrant Officer 2 Brian D. Hazelgrove grew up in Edinburgh, Indiana, and graduated from Edinburgh Community High School before joining the Army in 1994, serving honorably for 10 years.  Brian worked in military intelligence for 311th MI Bn, 101st Airborne Div, Fort Campbell, KY as a 96 ROMEO and served two tours of duty in South Korea, including working along the demilitarized zone (DMZ) between the two countries.  He raised to the rank of E6/SSG before applying to warrant officer school to pursue his dream of becoming a pilot.

Brian attended Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN and then Embry Riddle for aviation studies after warrant officer school.  His final assignment before deployment to Iraq was as an OH-58 Kiowa Warrior pilot with 3rd Battalion, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 10th Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, New York. He thrived in the military, excelled in his assignments and was well on his way to a great career.  Outside of the military, he valued education, loved to play golf and ride his harley and devoted time to family and friends. 

CW2 Brian Hazelgrove was only 29 when he died Jan. 23, 2004.  His helicopter crashed near Mosul, Iraq on Jan 23,2004; only three months into his deployment.

People who knew him well remember a bright, very personable and likable young man who had a great sense of humor and passion for serving his country and his community and devotion to his family. 

Survivors include his wife, Kimmi, and their four young children: Taylor, Zachary, Brandon and Katelyn.
