1LT Alexis Vega
1LT Vega was born on July 21,1999 in Cleveland, Ohio, to a proud and loving family, including her mother, Rebecca Brumfield; her father Richard Vega; and her sisters,mHannah (Vega) Grobelch and Marissa Vega.
Alexis was known for her radiant, unforgettable smile, which could light up any room and a spirit that made everyone feel seen, valued and loved. She had a rare gift for connecting with people, leaving behind lasting impressions and unforgettable moments with all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She attended James Ford Rhodes High School, where her passion for service began through her involvement in the NJROTC program. Alexis excelled academically and earned a scholarship to Miami University, where she continued her education after graduating high school in 2017.
Driven by her deep commitment to serve, Alexis enlisted in the United States Army on December 28, 2017, as a religious Affairs Specialist, while continuing her studies in Special education. After graduating from Miami University in 2021, she was commissioned as a Military Police Officer.
1LT Vega was scheduled to deploy to Jordan in support of Operation Spartan Shield with the 377th Military Police Company, where she was set to serve as a commander.
Throughout her military service Alexis was awarded the Army service ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Army Achievement Medal and Meritorious Service Medal.
But beyond her accomplishments, Alexis is most remembered for her heart. For her laughter. For the way she loved deeply and without hesitation. For the light she gave freely to others.
